My magical mystery tour of Northern California came to a screeching halt when my ride back to the Sports Basement arrived:

A ’62 Caddy Series 62. 9 mpg city, 12 mpg highway. Not exactly carbon-free. But stylish! (I am sooooo LA!)

My nemesis, traffic – which I was now a part of – slowed our trip back to the less environmentally unfriendly (and less stylish) car that I would drive back to Los Angeles.

My optimism that I would make it back in time for dinner with my friends was misplaced. The 60 miles from the Presidio to I-5 took about 3 hours. Traffic. Congestion. Construction.

High-speed rail cannot connect San Francisco and Los Angeles a moment too soon.
